Supporting the Safety, Wellbeing and Happiness of Every Player
At Colchester Tekkers Community Youth FC, the safety and welfare of every child s our highest priority. Our Welfare Officer team is here to ensure that all players feel safe, supported and able to enjoy football in a positive environment.
What the Welfare Officer Handles
Parents, players and volunteers can speak to the Welfare Officer about any concern relating to:
•Safeguarding or child protection concerns
•Bullying or suspected bullying (in person or online)
•Inappropriate behaviour from players, parents, coaches or spectators
•Welfare or wellbeing concerns (confidence, anxiety, friendships, emotional issues)
•Concerns about social media or communication
•Any behaviour that makes a child feel uncomfortable, unsafe or worried
•Reporting incidents involving discrimination or harassment
If you are unsure whether something “counts”, please report it anyway. We would always rather know.
How to Report a Concern
Concerns should be raised as soon as possible and ideally within 24 hours by anyone, players, parents, spectators etc
•You can report a concern by:
•Speaking directly to the Club Welfare Officer (Ben) or Club Welfare Officer Assistant (Chloe) - see “Your Team” page
•Speaking to the Team Manager (Ryan) (who will pass it on immediately)
•Sending a message or calling using the contact numbers provided in this pack
You do not need proof, just share what you have seen, heard or been told.
All concerns are taken seriously and handled sensitively.
What Happens After a Report
When a concern is raised:
- The Welfare Officer will listen, reassure, and gather basic information.
- The concern will be recorded confidentially
- Parents/guardians may be contacted if appropriate.
- The club will investigate the issue fairly and promptly.
- Actions will be taken in line with FA safeguarding guidance.
You will be kept informed of the outcome where appropriate.
